ALIGNING SUSTAINABILITY

 OUR SDG GOALS

SDG 4: Quality Education

The Nepal Economics Olympiad is deeply rooted in SDG 4, which advocates for quality, inclusive education. NEO contributes by:

  • Promoting Education: NEO offers high school students a unique platform to explore economics, business, and finance. By kindling their interest in these subjects, it widens the scope of education beyond the conventional curriculum.
  • Capacity Building: Beyond testing knowledge, NEO encourages students to apply economic theories to real-world situations, fostering analytical and problem-solving skills, essential for quality education.
  • Mentorship: NEO provides two months of intensive mentorship post regional competitions. Professional guidance refines students' knowledge and skills, enhancing the quality of education.
  • Global Exposure: NEO's participation in international competitions like the International Economics Olympiad and the World Economics Cup exposes Nepali students to global educational standards, motivating them to aim for excellence.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

SDG 8's focus on economic growth and decent work aligns with NEO's goals:

  • Economic Awareness: NEO nurtures economic awareness in high school students, vital for a workforce that comprehends economic principles, business strategies, and financial literacy.
  • Entrepreneurship: Encouraging creative thinking and practical application of economic theories, NEO nurtures the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering economic growth and job creation.
  • Career Opportunities: NEO's alumni have the opportunity to study at prestigious universities with full scholarships, opening new career avenues for young economists, contributing to economic growth.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

NEO actively promotes partnerships in the following ways:

  • Collaboration: NEO collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including organizations, government bodies, businesses, and educational institutions. These partnerships extend the program's reach and impact.
  • Knowledge Sharing: NEO's platform encourages students, teachers, and professionals in the field of economics to share knowledge, benefitting participants and contributing to the broader goal of building a prosperous nation.
